Dr. Amanda Thaw Ph.D/Psy.D

Amanda is a dedicated clinical psychologist who works with children, teens, parents and adults. She has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as third-wave modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition to her broad therapeutic skills, Amanda is a specialist in DBT-C, a treatment tailored for youth (ages 6-12) who experience emotional dysregulation, mood lability, social struggles and behavioural problems.

Amanda's approach to therapy is deeply rooted in trauma-informed care, ensuring that her clients feel safe and understood throughout their healing journey. She focuses on helping clients identify and communicate their needs through boundaries work, manage their emotions and cultivate self-compassion. She employs a person-centered therapeutic approach and strengths-based strategies to empower her clients. Her techniques include mindfulness and somatic practices, which help clients develop resiliency and emotional intelligence.

Amanda works with a variety of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, addictions, personality disorders, ADHD, sleep difficulties, chronic pain and feeding and eating disorders. She is an advocate for Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size, promoting a healthy and harmonious relationship with food and body image. Amanda is also committed to providing culturally-sensitive, neurodiversity and LGBTQ2S+ affirming services, making her practice a welcoming and inclusive space for all individuals.

By using compassionate and validating practices and creative interventions, Amanda aims to support her clients in achieving their goals and improving their overall well-being.
